corruption

a virus flows through my veins,
one that never seems to wane.

embedded in my system like the intel ME
"something's oh so wrong with thee"

which way to go, dear heart?
a rollback, or a fresh start?

pretend we never intersected
[some data integrity issues expected]

or move
with all this corrosion
that's more worthy of redaction?

i could rip out all my storage
and for a new life, forage

i've often hoped this is just a bad trip
in time, the bits might flip

the data would get overwritten
another sad story etched in the plates
of the hard drive of our lives

data doesn't disappear so easily;
not forgotten in the core of machinery

it doesn't matter anyway -
i'll lose the encryption keys, someday
